| This Years Wade Matthews Award |
Keith Warner received the Wade Matthews award for excellence in the field of Christian Camping. It is based on at least 15 years of service, excellence at your own camp and service to other camps. Keith Warner was recognized by his peers on January 19th, 2009 at the Christian Camp Leaders Convention in Asheville, North Carolina. He was called forward to a standing ovation by the conference attendees and he took the microphone to speak. His words were already coming choked up just a bit when he spotted his wife and family standing in the back of the room. At that point he cried and went a little weak in the knees. Keith gave thanks for being in Christian Camping ministry and also thanked all the many who have gone before and who serve with him now that he has been blessed. The evening was an honor and blessing!!! |

| Henry Hawver Honored for Camp Work |
Distinguished Alumni Award Henry’s ministry is being recognized throughout the mid-Michigan area because of his commitment to Rock Lake Christian Assembly in Vestaburg, Michigan as the Director of the camp. Henry’s life started in Baltimore, Maryland. He graduated from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio preparing to enter the ministry in the Lutheran church. That didn’t go well for him. He mentions that he left the seminary as an agnostic. His life’s journey then brought him head to head with Hi Gates. Hi baptized Henry into Christ and soon after he started preaching at the Wheatland Church of Christ in Remus. He entered Great Lakes Christian College as a part of the Accelerated Preacher Training program in 1984 and finished that two year degree. In the meantime, he became the preacher of the Dewitt Christian Church, then was called to be the Director of Rock Lake in 2000. Henry is all about children –his own (the adopted and foster children) and those who now come to camp. Henry’s story is one of humility, patience, determination, and service. |

| CCL 2009 - One for the history books! |
Well the dust has settled and the snow has covered our tracks. No one would even know that we were there. But we know. We can still close our eyes and picture the snow falling on the mountains outside as we lift up our voices in praise. We know that God spoke to us in a way that was a little odd for most of us but challenging and encouraging as well. We watched Keith Warner cry when he looked up and saw his wife and family as he accepted the Wade-Mathews Award. We felt the joy and the warm embrace of trusted friendship. We reached out the hand of fellowship to new friends. It was a time of immeasurably more from God. Thanks to all who were a part of it. God's blessing to all of you.
